Good things come to those who sweat – ClassPass

I did it.

After months of being on the fence about it, I finally took the leap and signed up for ClassPass.

I’d heard about ClassPass about a year ago from one of the bloggers I follow, Alexandra Grant, over on To Vogue or Bust but I was travelling at the time, so I didn’t think much about it. Even when I returned home I didn’t think much about it, but then again… I didn’t really think about fitness at all.

I spent the winter hemming and hawing over the fact that “I need to get back into a fitness routine”, but never put my words into action. I sat around moping about the cold, rainy weather, watching too much Netflix and indulging in one too many comfort cocktails. Honestly, when I look back on February (and most of January), they had to be some of the most unproductive months I’ve had in years.

Then something hit me… the end of February. It was then I realized I had spent all winter making excuses for myself and suddenly a light bulb went off. Enough is enough.

I was reminded of the post Alexandra did back in the day and started researching ClassPass excessively – I even sent a Tweet out asking for opinions of the membership of my hometown Vancouverites and the response back was essentially, “It’s awesome”.

I did a little more research, found a two-week trial for $19, and signed up immediately. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Basically, ClassPass gives you the ability to try out a variety of studios and gyms throughout a given city offering you a range of diverse workouts. From spin classes to self-defence, pole-dancing, Zumba, Crossfit and more, it’s easy for you to feel like your options are limitless with ClassPass.

Like any membership program, there are certain rules, for example, you can only go to the same studio three times a month and if you cancel a class within a 12-hour period you pay a penalty (and if you are a no-show to a class you pay a larger penalty).

I’m about a month into my membership and have been loving it. They even have an app that makes it easy for you to check out and sign up for classes whenever and wherever you are. For anyone who gets bored of the same old gym routine (all of us?),  just wants to get out and meet new people and try new things, I would highly recommend ClassPass. I have pushed my mind, body and comfort zone more this month than I have in years.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a little more of my ClassPass/fitness journey and the types of classes I’ve been trying out here in Vancouver, which have been diverse to say the least.

I hope this is a start of a new lifestyle for me, one that puts fitness at the forefront and House of Cards on the back-burner, luckily… I already finished Season 4.
